NOTE: To record live sounds, a microphone must be installed .
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Programs' and select 'Accessories'.
3) Select 'Multimedia' and select 'Sound Recorder'. (The 'Sound - Sound Recorder' window appears.)
4) Set the volume input to 'Microphone':
a) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Audio Properties'. (The 'Audio Properties' dialog box appears.)
b) In the 'Recording' group, move the 'Volume' slider to the desired volume.
c) In the 'Preferred device' drop-down list box, select 'Microphone'.
d) Select the 'Use preferred devices only' check box.
e) Click 'OK' to close the 'Audio Properties' dialog box.
5) Click the 'Record' button. (Recording begins .)
6) When recording is finished, click the 'Stop' button.
7) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save As...' to save the changes. (The 'Save As' dialog box appears.)
8) In the 'Save in' drop-down list, select the drive to which to store the sound file.
9) Select the folder to save the file in and click 'Open'.
10) In the 'File name' box, type a name for the sound file and click 'Save'.
